At Metro Atlanta Urology and Pelvic Health Center, Dr. Shenelle Wilson provides a cystoscopy as a way to examine the bladder lining and urethra. With the use of a cystoscope, the scope has a thin lens that helps detect a range of issues, such as bladder cancer, an enlarged prostate, and bladder stones. If you have recurring urinary tract infections or bladder control problems, a cystoscopy can be beneficial in diagnosing the cause of the symptoms so that they may be treated properly. We understand that a diagnosis can be alarming, but our team is here to develop an appropriate treatment plan for you. Learn more by contacting our Kennesaw, GA facility to schedule a consultation.

Your cystoscopy will be performed in one of our treatment rooms and generally takes about five minutes but can take longer. To begin, you will be asked to empty your bladder. You will then be asked to position yourself on the examination table where we will place a local numbing agent to minimize any discomfort. A thin lubricated scope will be gently passed through the urethra to the bladder where sterile fluid will be released into the bladder to fill it and make it easier to see. If necessary, a small instrument can be used to remove tissue samples or tumors. After the procedure, you can resume your daily routine. Dr. Wilson may schedule a follow-up appointment to go over the results with you.

I love Brian and Dr. Wilson!!I had a problem with some cysts and Dr. Wilson was able to help surgically remove them when my gynecologist and dermatologist could not. They genuinely care about their patients and we need more people in the healthcare system like them! Would recommend!
